अमेरिकाको न्यूयोर्कस्थित म्यानह्याटनको मिडटाउनमा भएको गोलीकाण्डमा सुरक्षामा खटिएका अफ-ड्युटी प्रहरीसहित चारजनाको मृत्यु भएको छ भने अन्य पाँचजना गम्भीर घाइते भएका छन् ।

गोली चलाउने २७ वर्षीय ती पुरुषले शरीरमा सुरक्षा कवच लगाएर शक्तिशाली एम-४ राइफल बोकेर स्थानीय समयअनुसार साँझ ६:३० बजेतिर ३४५ पार्क एभिन्यु र ५२औँ स्ट्रिटमा रहेको एक भवनमा रहेका व्यक्तिहरुमाथि अन्धाधुन्ध गोली प्रहार गरेका थिए ।

सो भवनमा लगानी कम्पनी ब्ल्याकस्टोन र नेसनल फुटबल लिग (NFL) को मुख्यालय रहेको एबीसी न्युजले जनाएको छ । घटनाको ती कम्पनीहरूसँग वा भवनमा रहेका कुनै कम्पनीसँग प्रत्यक्ष सम्बन्ध रहेको छैन कि भन्ने कुरा हालसम्म स्पष्ट भइसकेको छैन ।

लगभग ३३औँ तल्लामा आफूलाई ब्यारिकेड बनाएर बसेका शेन डेभोन तामुरा नामक संदिग्ध व्यक्ति पछि मृत अवस्थामा फेला परेका थिए । प्रहरी आयुक्त जेसिका टिस्चका अनुसार उनको मृत्यु सम्भवतः आत्महत्या जस्तो देखिएको छ ।

Midtown Manhattan shooting leaves 4 dead, including NYPD officer

NEW YORK - Four people have been killed, including one NYPD officer, after gunfire erupted in Midtown Manhattan Monday afternoon, officials said. 

10:27 p.m.: 4 people killed, including 36-year-old NYPD officer, mayor says

Four people were shot and killed in Midtown Manhattan on Monday.

The deceased included two females, one male and one NYPD officer. 

Another male was also shot and is still in critical condition.

The shooter died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the mayor said.

The 36-year-old NYPD officer was identified as Didarul Islam. He was with the department for three and a half years, the mayor said.

Islam has two sons and his wife is eight months pregnant, the mayor said. 

What they're saying:

"The vehicle entered New York City shortly thereafter. According to our law enforcement partners in Las Vegas, Mr. Tamura has a documented mental health history. His motives are still under investigation and we are working to understand why he targeted this particular location," NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

9:17 p.m.: Gunman identified, 3 killed, AP reports

At least three people, including an off-duty New York City police officer, have been killed following a shooting in a building in Midtown Manhattan on Monday, sources tell The Associated Press.

The suspect was identified as Shane Tamura, of Nevada, two people briefed on the investigation told the AP. Sources say he fatally shot himself.

Law enforcement officials located identification on Tamura’s body, including a concealed carry permit from Las Vegas, the people said. The people were not authorized to discuss details of an ongoing investigation and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity. -FOX5
